Project leader
Haakon Hop, NPI
Participants
  • Haakon Hop (NPI, Leader of WP2 and OA-5)
  • Howard Browman (IMR, Co-leader of WP2)
  • Claudia Halsband (Akvaplan-niva)
  • Peter Thor (NPI)
  • Padmini Dalpadado (IMR)
  • Stig Falk-Petersen (NPI)

International collaborators at Kristineberg (SLC-K) and Austevoll (HI, Howard Browman's project)

Flagship

Ocean acidification, Theme: Effect of ocean acidification on species and ecosystems

Summary of Results
An experienced post doc, Peter Thor, was hired in this project, with 50% start at
NPI from 1 April, 2012. The other 50% will involve continuation of his OAmesocosm
studies at Sven Lovén Centre – Kristineberg (SLC-K), Sweden.
Much of the work in 2011-12 has involved planning of experiments and
activities to be performed at SLC-K and at Austevoll , and our research proposal
has been revised and updated. A coordination meeting will be held at Austevoll
in May 2012. Some field sampling equipment has been ordered and received,
with help from hired technician. The technician has also surveyed relevant OA literature.

Interdisciplinary Cooperation

Collaboration with ice physics and oceanography has been discussed. NPI has hired a second post doc, Agneta Fransson, in OA chemistry, who started in January 2012.

Budget in accordance to results

This is a start-up of project, and this funding was needed to get it going. This project has barely started and no other sources of funding have been available.
